The surprising cost of hiring a fractional Chief Operating Officer

People tend to naturally assume that working with a fractional COO (Chief Operating Officer) in your business, or services provided by COOs, are extremely expensive.

Now obviously, it can be expensive, depending on who you work with and in what capacity, but with my fractional COO services, I wanted to make getting this type of support in your business more accessible.

So I’m going to break down exactly why I’ve done this and share the way my services are structured to hopefully shed some light on what it’s like working with a Fractional COO. And I’ll be honest, the cost might not be what you expected (in a good way!).

The options

As I said, I wanted to make working with a fractional COO more accessible and one of the main ways I’ve achieved this is by offering two main types of services with different levels. 

This way you can work within your budget while still getting valuable support. 

Option 1: Fractional COO – Advisory 

In this service you can choose between having calls with me on a monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly basis, giving you more flexibility in how we work together. 

This service enables you to work with a COO in an advisory capacity. This means I’m there to bounce ideas off or run things by. It’s about being able to talk things through and receive practical advice about how to implement different things in your business. 

It’s perfect for when you only need an expert on hand for advice but don’t need anyone to build things out for you or implement what is spoken about. The focus is more on creating strategy and having someone by your side to help make decisions that make sense for your business. 

You also receive Voxer access as needed between your calls. So you aren’t ever without support! 

Option 2: Fractional COO- Advisory and Implementation

This is the next level as not only do you get the advisory sessions and support but you also receive implementation support as well.

Essentially, this means I help implement what we speak about. 

If we work together in this capacity, you’ll receive weekly calls and 10 hours of implementation support a month! This could include things like creating job descriptions, performance management, process documentation, tech audits, strategic planning, or anything else we decide needs doing in your business!

The Why Behind the options

There are several reasons why I believe that fractional COO support is instrumental when it comes to owning a business and why I’ve made it more accessible so let’s dive into them. 

Firstly, as with everything I do at MBS, helping to make knowledge and resources more equitable is something that is always at the forefront of my mind.

I want to help support those who are striving to make a difference in the world in the best ways I can. Sometimes, this means offering things for free or making services (like the fractional COO ones above) more flexible.

Secondly, I know how lonely it can be running a business and how challenging it can get!

Even if you have a whole team around you. There are some things you have to deal with by yourself. You can’t exactly talk to your assistant about how you’re worried you won’t be able to pay them this month, yanno? 

You need someone else to talk to about that. Someone you can share your fears with, someone to help you through the difficult moments, someone to celebrate with, and even help you with breakthroughs!

This type of service is beyond coaching as not only can you show up as your full self, but I also provide actionable resources and advice to help.

I’ve seen the impact of this type of support. I’ve experienced it myself and witnessed its impact on previous clients.
