And we are back with part 2 in my LinkedIn series — behind the scenes of the proven MBS framework.
Before we dive in, I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who took the time to read and give their thoughts on part 1 of this series. I’m happy that it resonated with so many of you!
So without further ado…let’s dive into part 2 AKA “Strategize and Vision”
When you are building your business, in the very early stages — creating the business plan, considering your brand, all the logistics — you must understand and consider your B-I-G vision.
I emphasize your “B-I-G vision” because this is where I see a lot of business owners getting caught up and finding themselves at a standstill, spinning their wheels.
I commonly see a lot of business owners stuck in reaction mode. They are constantly putting out fires, unsure of their offerings, or making decisions based on what is happening around them.
An example of what I mean by this…
Let’s say you’re a new business owner and you haven’t gotten clear on your offers yet — you have a new client come to you that wants “XYZ” so you decide to create an offer out of this. The only reason you do this is that someone wants it…and this cycle continues.
You haven’t taken the time to understand why you are creating this offer (aside from the fact it was requested) and you don’t know what other offers you will create to compliment this one. You also haven’t taken the time to understand if this offer fits into your long-term goals with your business. It only exists because of outside influence.
This is where things can start to tumble. At MBS we work with you to help ensure your clarity is at the top of every decision you make. That’s why your vision is a crucial step in our process.
Your vision creates clarity which provides confidence, goals, and strategy.
Remember, you are the boss and leader of your business, you need to remain in control and own your choices and next steps to move forward.
At MBS, when we work on creating a crystal clear vision, we can ensure you don’t get stuck in the above-mentioned reaction mode.
Some things we consider when thinking about your vision:
● Where are you and your business going in 5-10 years?
● Do you want to bring on a partner at some point?
● Do you want to sell at some point?
● Are you planning for your kids to take over the business?
● Do you see yourself running the day-to-day?
● Maybe you want to step back in the future?
● What do YOU want from your business?
As you can see from the questions above, when we think about your vision, we dive deeper than only monetary or short-term goals. We want to know your long-term and B-I-G vision. At MBS, we work with changemakers, those who want to push the status quo, make a difference in the world, and have the vision to support that.
What could a B-I-G, long-term vision look like? I’ll use my vision as an example.
I want to develop a nonprofit where I can create a community and provide resources for teen moms; while also being able to impact the lives of other women and queer folks like myself through my agency’s services and growing my own team.
This vision informs all of my decisions moving forward. It informs my strategy, the reason why I am creating an agency, why I’m building the team that I am, and why I’m doing business my way.
In the second part of our framework, this is what we help you get clear on. By getting this vision down, understanding it, and feeling unbelievably confident in it, we can then craft a personalized and results-oriented strategy to help move your organization in the right direction.
At MBS we think about your business on a large, long-term, and fairly wide scale first. We then bring that vision in slowly to make strategic, actionable decisions and steps that guide your organization to see the results and growth you desire.
I’d love to know in the comments — what is your B-I-G vision?
